“A Mere Male” is a suggestion that men have often been taught from a young age that they must be superior to survive, be proud of who they are, and make important decisions that will dictate their future. As part of that process, they often don’t consider the thoughts and needs of others, especially women who come into their lives.
A MERE MALE
As men and women walk this earth, if they are to survive
One must seek out the other’s dreams and help keep them alive.
In this life, men have one big dream, perhaps you’ll understand,
It is their dream by day and night to hold her by the hand.
As they walk, if she should fall, or tears threaten to flow,
It will not hurt; she’ll wonder why? One day, she’ll surely know.
We have but one life to enjoy, therefore we freely give
Our heart and soul to only her, as long as we shall live.
No matter what her heart desires, her dreams will not be lost,
We’ll try to help them all come true, no matter what the cost.
If she desires to settle down, we’ll help make her a home
Where she’ll always be at peace. We’ll have children of their own.
If she wants to travel wide, new faces there to greet,
He’ll pack her bag while packing his, lay the world right at her feet!Just as Moses led his tribe unto the Promised Land,
In any corner of the world, right by her side he’ll stand.
If she should doubt at any time that her dreams might not come true,
Remember how much she means to him; he will always see her through.
But in his great desire to share her troubles and her pain,
He may confuse or hurt her more. It’s difficult to explain.
Anything he might think, or say, or do, or write or feel,
Is just because his heart dictates emotions that are real.
And if he lets his emotions flow, even if he should shout,
Perhaps he doesn’t like the thought that she might have a doubt.
He knows that he should listen more; let her have her fair say.
Show more patience, give her time, allow her to find her way.
Most men will try very hard to give her a fair chance to speak,
And expect that their own dreams are the visions she does seek.
But, if in this great endeavour, time and again we fail,
We pray that she will still recall, we are but a Mere Male.
