“Fall Softly” is both advice and a warning to anyone who is searching for love.

FALL SOFTLY

Fall softly into love,

It is the most unpredictable force facing mankind.

It may entice you to rule against your instincts, 

And let your heart rule over your mind.

Fall softly into love,

Risk it not for the sake of a child, job or friend.

Protect it with every fibre of your body and ounce of your strength,

Or it will stand you alone in the end.

Fall softly into love,

It will thrill at tormenting your mind.

And make you endure what you would not accept

From any other soul you may find.

Fall softly into love,

Give it your total energies while on this earth.

It can provide true happiness, contentment and achievement,

And dictate your own sense of self-worth.

Fall softly into love,

Give it what you would desire for your own joy.

A silky cocoon to feed, comfort and protect you,

If neglected, it will destroy.

Fall softly into love,

It is an arduous journey over rugged terrain.

If along the way you should take a wrong turn,

Have the courage to begin over again.

Fall softly into love,

It has the headiness of the most powerful wine.

It can steer you from every other life-long desire,

And take control of your mind.

Fall softly into love,

Confuse it not with ambition, comfort, worldly goods or lust.

Its foundations are respect, loyalty and true devotion,

And unqualified trust.

Fall softly into love,

But take care not to lessen your fall.

It’s not the distance covered that will determine your success,

But whether you finish the journey at all.
